CHAP partners with World BioProtection Summit

The Annual World BioProtection Summit & Awards (AWBSA), formerly the BioPesticide Summit, will be held in May at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.

CHAP is a media sponsor of the event, which will offer delegates global networking opportunities as well as dedicated workshops which provide support for accessing investment to commercialise new bioprotection (formerly known as biopesticide) products.

The AWBSA plays a key role in achieving the mission of the WBF, which is to bridge the gap between academia and industry and to ensure the successful development of bioprotection products.

Biological solutions for the control of pests and diseases are increasingly important to agri-tech and offer a sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides. This is particularly important as more chemicals are being withdrawn from the market due to their toxicity, leaving growers helpless in the fight against a growing number of crop pests and diseases.

The Summit will bring together leading figures in the biocontrol industry, academia and the public sector to share expert knowledge and address major challenges in sustainable pest and disease management in agriculture.

There will also be a celebration of the best and brightest new ideas and achievements in the sector at the annual Gala Dinner and Awards on the opening night.

All delegates will be able to attend keynote presentations on the issues that matter most to the industry today. A series of workshops will connect developers and scientists with potential agri-tech investors to enable the successful commercialisation of the latest innovations. The event will also enable delegates to reconnect with existing contacts and establish new relationships.

Among those taking part in the plenary sessions will be

  • Dr Minshad Ansari, Founder and CEO of Bionema, UK
  • Professor Toby JA Bruce PhD FRES, School of Life Sciences, Keele University, UK
  • Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, Assistant Pro Vice Chancellor (Enterprise) at the University of South Wales, UK
