Join the 1 of the Million campaign – and tell us about it!

In this time of uncertainty, it’s important that we don’t lose sight of one thing that is certain – women strengthen our STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) workforce. The 1 of the Million Campaign celebrates this.

Over the years, WISE (formerly Women in Science & Engineering) has been a driving force in transforming the face of this workforce. Last year, the UK reached the significant milestone of having 1 million women working in core STEM careers. To recognise the vital contribution women are making, and to further build community during this difficult time, WISE is aiming to put a personal face to that million.

It is running the 1 of the Million Campaign, inviting people to share photos of all women working across science, technology and engineering organisations – at any level and in any role, sector or part of the UK – to show that STEM is for everyone.

It aims to share these photos with the purpose of recognising the women working in STEM across the UK and showing other women and girls that they should consider careers in STEM too.

In addition, WISE will also share stories of past WISE Award Winners  showing where they are now and what they hope for the future.

To take part in the campaign you can share a photo on the on the web page for inclusion on the interactive photo collage, and encourage other women who work in STEM to do the same. You can also take part in the #1ofTheMillion day on Twitter on June 10th by following and uploading a selfie with the hashtag 1ofTheMillion, saying what you do and why you are passionate about STEM image to the WISE Twitter account

CHAP is also asking any women working with us, whether as employees, partners or members, to take part and let us know when you have added your details, so that we can share and showcase the many brilliant women working in Agricultural Innovation on June 10th.

Originally launched in 1984 as Women into Science and Engineering, WISE is now an independent Community Interest Company providing Business to Business (B2B) services to employers, educators and training providers. It provides support services to organisations seeking to improve their gender balance, including engagement and advancement of women.

If you have any questions about working with CHAP, please send us an email using the enquiries form at the bottom of our homepage.
