Don’t miss out on this opportunity to scale your agri-food business into Asia

Innovate UK’s Global Incubator Programme for Agri-food is offering up to eight innovative agri-food businesses and SMEs in the innovative food and beverage sectors to join its programme with GROW in Singapore.

The ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) region is emerging as a major hub for agri-food and aquaculture innovation: CHAP partner Liberty Produce is already working on a project in Singapore. Now, the Global Incubator Programme, run in partnership with Innovate UK Edge, is providing significant opportunities for innovative UK agri-food businesses looking to scale into Asia to be successful in the areas of advanced agri-food and innovative food solutions.

GROW, Southeast Asia’s first dedicated agri-food accelerator with an impact focus, works with businesses to supercharge their growth on the global stage. Its portfolio of companies represents industry-leading solutions across the agri-food value chain.

The Global Incubator Programme for Agri-food – Singapore, Gateway to Asia is now open for applications, with a closing date of 12th September 2021.

The four-stage programme will include preparation workshops, a (virtual) market visit, (virtual) incubation (18 Oct 2021 – 14 Apr 2022) and subsequent exploitation of the programme.

Selected applicants will take part in a series of virtual workshops, over two weeks, to elaborate on the benefits and opportunities of trading in the region, using Singapore as a gateway. Participants will undertake a process to start thinking about the ASEAN region and the nuances of the market.

This introduction to the region will be followed by six weeks of masterclasses, interactive workshops, on-line resources and one-on-one coaching. The focus will be to build roadmaps for product development and adaptation to Asian market and to get to grips with the legal and regulatory requirements for establishing a business in the region.

The programme will then drill down into applicants’ specific needs with seven weeks of one-on-one coaching, mentoring and expert sessions. Participants will be introduced to partners, customers, investors, corporates and service providers and have the opportunity to pitch their business.

The final five weeks will deliver individual, tailored support to build a local team and establish business structures with – COVID permitting – in-person visits to the region.

Applications are invited from agri-food tech and innovative food and beverage businesses involved in, but not limited to:

  • Controlled environment agriculture
  • Sustainable food production systems
  • Plant-based foods
  • Alternative proteins
  • Functional ingredients
  • Food traceability and provenance
  • Food waste

All applications must be made online through the Innovate UK EDGE website and received no later than 23:45 BST on 12th September 2021.

To support potential applicants, a Global Incubator Programme briefing will take place on 2nd September 2021. For more information go to Global Incubator Programme.
