Value from Food Waste funding call

Funding is currently available from WRAP, as part of the Resource Action Fund (£18 million from Defra), which may help spark a project and collaboration.

Value from Food Waste is now open for applications, with a closing date of 26th March 2020.

Small-scale grants will be awarded to support collaborative pilot projects that trial and test new processes and ideas which can demonstrate the commercial potential of biochemical processing options for high-volume challenging / hard-to-tackle streams of wasted food. The overall intention is to ensure that such food remains useful and retains value, preventing it from being sent for disposal and becoming waste.

With a total funding of £500,000 available, individual projects will be granted between £20,000 and £100,000 to fund both revenue and capital expenditure costs.

To be eligible, projects must be based in England. Applicants must demonstrate the project will involve a collaboration between industry and a research organisation (university or research institute). The lead applicant can be either entity.

Applications opened on Thursday 30th January and close at 1pm on Thursday 26th March. Wrap aims to notify applicants of the results in the week commencing 25th May 2020.
