Sign up for our workshop on cutting energy usage in CEA

With agriculture facing growing pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and shorten food supply chains, now is the perfect time for us to rethink food production and energy usage in CEA.

In this insightful workshop you will be introduced to a new agri-tech innovation that could prove game-changing for the sustainability of the greenhouse production sector.

CHAP  and Envirup Ltd have partnered on a feasibility project, funded by Innovate UK’s ‘Sustainable Innovation Fund’ to demonstrate an innovative greenhouse wall insulation system. The aim is to examine the potential of the system to passively improve the energy efficiency and carbon footprint of indoor growing, as well as extending the fresh produce growing season available for large commercial greenhouses.

Together with collaborators Paola Reyes from the BECCI Project at the University of Wolverhampton, Cambridge HOK, Boomer Industries and CHAP partner Stockbridge Technology Centre (STC), the consortium is looking to to evaluate the potential of the Envirup Insulation System to reduce the energy demand and costs associated with greenhouses, while improving their productivity and sustainability. The system could also support the sector in meeting its net-zero emissions targets.

But in order to optimise the alignment of the product to market needs, it is vital to gather feedback from players in the industry.

The project collaborators are holding an interactive workshop to introduce the Envirup Insulation System and discuss the results of a thermal model comparison with interested stakeholders in commercial greenhouses and protected crop production (growers; fresh produce supply chain; greenhouse designers).

You are invited to come and take part, on 17th June, from 2-3pm BST, for a chance to be the first to hear about this innovative product and to share your thoughts and questions with the team.
