International Business Development Manager, Dr Jenna Ross, attended the FAO High-Level Virtual Special Event on Strengthening Global Governance of Food Security and Nutrition earlier this month.
The three-day online event, which ran from 13th to 15th October 2020, was held in lieu of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) 47 (rescheduled for 8th – 12th February 2021).
The event brought together representatives from Governments, UN agencies, civil society, non-governmental organisations, private sector, science and research institutes and financial institutions. Three high-level virtual plenaries were held:
CFS is an inclusive international and intergovernmental platform created to enable a broad range of committed stakeholders to work together in a coordinated manner and in support of country-led processes towards the elimination of hunger and ensuring food security and nutrition for all. It is working towards the progressive realization of the right to adequate food in the context of national food security. CFS promotes policy convergence and coherence on global food security and nutrition issues. Its processes ensure that the voices of all relevant stakeholders are heard, particularly those most affected by food insecurity and malnutrition.
Jenna was fortunate to attend CFS 46 in Rome, in October 2019, and was invited to take part in World Food Day.
