CHAP and STC team up at Future Farming Technologies

Following on from the success of New Scientist Live, CHAP was invited to exhibit Stockbridge Technology Centre’s vertical farm demonstrator at the first Future Farming Technology (FFT) Expo in Birmingham’s NEC.

Chris Delf, Linsey Cresswell and Karen Donal attended for CHAP, while Steff Sunley represented STC. Once again, the vertical farming display with different LED light spectra was a great way to attract visitors to the CHAP stand and engage them in conversation.

FFT visitors ranged from university professors and students to farmers and agribusinesses.

Fellow exhibitors at the event included established names such as Agco Tractors and Yara, alongside emerging ag-tech companies including Drone-Ag and B-Hive and other outfits in the ag space including Crop4Sight and Fotenix.

The event included a series of panel discussions based around where technology might take us, can we afford it or is it time to embrace it?

There were case studies from companies, including CHAP members LettusGrow (vertical farming)  and PES Technologies (soil sensors), the latter specifically discussing a recent collaboration project with CHAP involvement re: the Kenya PCN project.

Innovate UK were also present and received several enquiries about funding through grant schemes.
