Eagle Labs launches Agri-Robotics webinar series

Following on from the successful Barclays Eagle Labs webinar series on Soil Health, the first in a new series, this time focusing on AI, Robotics and Autonomous Systems will take place on 21st July.

Titled The case for Agri-Robotics… where are we now? It will investigate the use of robotics in agri-tech, a sector that employs almost 4 million people; more than the automotive and aerospace sectors combined. Agri-tech companies are already working closely with UK farmers, using technology, particularly robotics and AI, to help create new technologies and herald new innovations.

The first session in the series will look at how the Face of Agriculture is changing and how AgriTech can support farmers to increase productivity, while protecting the environment and making farming – one of the most dangerous professions in the country – safer.

Wendy Hewitson – Agri-Tech Programme Manager, will present an overview of the Eagle Labs and the Agri-Tech Programme.

CHAP’s International Business Development Manager, Dr Jenna Ross, will be the first guest speaker. Jenna is an internationally respected expert on slugs and biological control, and will be talking about the SlugBot project which is a collaborative project led by CHAP, and includes partners Small Robot Company, COSMONiO and AV and N Lee.

‘SlugBot’ is a game-changing project looking to fill a market demand for autonomous slug monitoring and precision control and looks to open up exciting opportunities for farmers.

Jenna will be followed by Sam Watson Jones, Co-Founder of CHAP member SRC, who will speak briefly about their role in the project and his wider mission to develop robotic farmbots to drill, feed and weed arable crops autonomously, making food production sustainable, reducing farming’s environmental impact and increasing global yields.
