£1000 grants aim to promote women leaders in UK agriculture

Globally, women are still an enormously under-utilised resource, especially when it comes to management roles. This is perhaps even more the case in agricuture than in other sectors. But now an international organisation, Women & Leadership International (WLI), is looking to redress the balance.

WLI has been championing professional development for thousands of female leaders across Australasia and North America since 2004. In January it began working in the UK, with the intention of connecting, developing and empowering female leaders and supporting a growing global movement to end gender inequality.

Recognising the ever-increasing importance of the agricultural sector, women working within farming and agriculture across the UK are invited to apply for grants of £1,000 towards the fees of its leadership development programs.

Leading Edge is aimed at junior and aspiring leaders and managers. This five-month part-time (approximately two hours a week) course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and behavioural insights needed to become a successful leader.

Executive Ready is designed to fit the needs of mid-level leaders and managers, who want to take their careers a step further. This course runs for seven-months (also part-time, approximately two hours a week) and is designed to stretch mid-level leaders and propel them towards executive level performance, behaviours and mindsets.

The grants will aim to provide powerful and effective development opportunities for women working in farming and agriculture across the UK. Expressions of Interest close on October 16th.
