Register for the Food Systems Policy Hub Launch Week webinars

The Food Systems Policy Hub launch week will include contributions from more than 20 speakers from academia, industry and charities. The first session, from 10.30am to 12 noon, will look at Food supply in a changing world, led by Professor Bob Doherty from University of York. Day 2, also from 10.30am to 12 noon, will consider Childhood Food Poverty in the UK, with Dr Bernadette Moor and Dr Charlotte Evans from the University of Leeds.

There is an earlier start on Wednesday (9am to 10.30am) for Ecosystem markets for a green recovery, with Professor Mark Reed from Newcastle University and Professor Peter Howley from the University of Leeds.

Lancaster University’s Dr Rachel Marshall will look at Tackling global food issues through local action on 12^th November from 10.30am to 12 noon and the final session, at the same hours on Friday 13th November, will ask How can policy support agrifood innovation? This will be led by Professor Jess Davies and Dr Ruth Alcock from Lancaster University.

Announcing the launch, Policy Hub Director Professor Bob Doherty, said: “Traditionally, challenges in food production, supply and consumption have been studied and tackled in isolation…. There is now a growing recognition that effective change requires us to consider the overarching food system including food production, processing, distribution and consumption. N8 AgriFood is in an ideal position to take this approach.”

N8 AgriFood is a consortium of northern universities that takes a food systems approach, combining expertise from across the N8 universities to inform policy at local, national and international levels, creating change to tackle the various challenges within the food system.
