Developing a new National Food Strategy for England is an online conference, organised by the Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum, on 7th July.
The event will bring together key stakeholders and policymakers to discuss the priorities for developing a new wide-ranging National Food Strategy for England. Keynote speakers will include Emily Miles, Chief Executive of the Food Standards Agency, Tim Lang, Professor of Food Policy at City, University of London, Minette Batters, President of the NFU and Ian Wright, Chief Executive of the Food and Drink Federation.

Conference materials will be provided in advance, including speaker biographies, and there will be opportunities for live delegate questions and comments with all speakers, as well as the chance to meet and interact with fellow delegates.
The event has already attracted a lot of interest from policymakers and stakeholders including officials from Parliament, Defra, BEIS, the Food Standards Agency, the National Audit Office, The Scottish Government and the Welsh Government. To book your place go to Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum.
The independent National Food Strategy review, led by Henry Dimbleby, was commissioned by the government in August 2019, when it also also published Developing a national food strategy: independent review 2019 – terms of reference.
The final report of the review was due in this summer but the inevitable delay due to Coronavirus means this has been pushed back to Christmas ‘at the earliest’. Additionally, when published the strategy will have a renewed focus on food security, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the publication, the Government will then develop a National Food Strategy White paper.
